Description
CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is a generic qualification and minimum requirement to step into the early childhood education industry. It reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia.
This course is designed to empower entry-level workers with the fundamentals of childhood development, nurturing, and caring for children. Gain the skills and knowledge to provide quality care to children, and to plan play-based engaging and educational activities to optimise their overall growth, development, and wellbeing. Learn to support the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, and psychological needs and development of young children in their early years of life.
Earning this qualification will qualify you to find employment in public or private preschools, kindergartens, long daycare centres, childcare centres, and family daycare.
Work Placement/ Industry Experience
Students are required to complete mandatory Professional Experience Placement total of at least 160 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency, as a part of this qualification.
The ability to obtain a Working with Children Check - Working with Children Check & Police Check required for industry work placement.
Entry Requirement
As such there are no entry requirements for this course, however students are required to undertake the Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment and Pre-Training Review. This will determine a candidate’s suitability and relevance for the course and identification of any support required.

Victorian residents who undertake classroom-based or blended training may be eligible for Commonwealth and Victorian Government Funding (Skills First previously known as Victorian Training Guarantee).
